Multiply Near 10, 100, or 1000

Numbers close to a power of ten can be multiplied using their small offsets from the base.

How to use it

  1. Choose a base such as 100.
  2. Write each number as base plus or minus an offset.
  3. Use expansion or cross-adjustment and add the offset product.
