Advanced Adult BMI Calculator
What is Advanced BMI?
Body Mass Index (BMI) compares your weight with your height: BMI = weight in kilograms ÷ height in meters squared. This version uses the same BMI formula as Simple BMI, with more unit choices, a category explanation, weight ranges and an optional target-BMI comparison.
For example, 70 kg at 1.70 m gives a BMI of about 24.2. Enter your height and weight, choose the correct units and tap Calculate BMI.
For adults aged 20 and older. BMI is a screening measure. It does not measure body fat directly or distinguish muscle from fat. A result alone cannot diagnose health or set an appropriate personal weight goal.
What else can I do here?
- Convert height between centimeters, meters and feet/inches.
- Convert weight between kilograms, pounds and stone/pounds.
- View the weight interval corresponding to the adult healthy-weight BMI category.
- Enter a target BMI to see its mathematical weight equivalent and the difference from your entered weight.
- Change weight to compare scenarios while keeping height fixed.
The target is a calculation you choose, not a treatment or weight-loss recommendation. Children and teens need age- and sex-specific percentiles. During pregnancy, use individualized guidance from your healthcare professional.
Adult BMI categories: underweight below 18.5; healthy weight 18.5–24.9; overweight 25–29.9; obesity 30+. The healthy-weight range is based on BMI 18.5 to below 25. BMI may not reflect individual body composition. Children and teens require age- and sex-specific BMI percentiles.
