Water and weather
Evaporation transfers liquid water into vapor. Condensation forms liquid droplets from vapor. Precipitation returns water from clouds; runoff and infiltration move it across and into the ground.
Weather describes short-term atmospheric conditions. Climate describes patterns over longer periods. One cold day alone cannot establish a climate trend.
Worked example
Water evaporates from a lake, condenses in clouds, and falls as rain; some rain infiltrates soil.
Try it yourself
Sketch a water cycle and explain where sunlight supplies energy.
Check your understanding
Cloud droplets form mainly through which process?
Cooling water vapor can condense into droplets.
