Timelines and chronology

Chronology places events in time order. A timeline must show a consistent direction and a sensible scale. BCE and CE labels describe years; there is no year zero in the traditional BCE/CE calendar sequence.

Distinguish when an event occurred from when an account was written. Historical dates can be uncertain, especially for ancient events. Record ranges instead of inventing exact dates.
