Density Units & Calculator
Density = mass divided by volume. The same volume of different materials can have different mass.
Detailed explanation & worked examples
Conversion method
Base value = input × source factor + source offset. Output = (base value − target offset) ÷ target factor. Only units from this family can be converted together.
Worked example
For the first two units below: 1 Kilograms per cubic meter becomes 0.00100000 Grams per cubic centimeter.
| Unit | Multiplier | Offset |
|---|---|---|
| Kilograms per cubic meter | 1 | 0 |
| Grams per cubic centimeter | 1000 | 0 |
| Pounds per cubic foot | 16.01846337396 | 0 |
| Pounds per US gallon | 119.8264273169 | 0 |
Density = mass divided by volume. The same volume of different materials can have different mass.
