School subjects, languages, puzzles and practical skills—with worked examples, explanations and guided practice.
External symptom checks
Use only the manufacturer-approved controls, cables and external connectors. Check the selected input, a known-good compatible cable, source output and visible error messages. Record whether menus appear and whether sound is present.
Disconnect damaged equipment and seek service for smoke, burning odor, exposed wiring or unusual overheating. Do not repeatedly energize it to reproduce a hazardous symptom.
Worked example
If the on-screen menu appears but one HDMI source does not, start by checking that source, selected input and compatible cable.
Try it yourself
Build a symptom worksheet with menus, sound, affected inputs and timing.
Check your understanding
If menus work but one HDMI source fails, what is a sensible first check?
Working menus narrow the initial external investigation.
